Projects, MSMQ, Serialization, etc

OK, so much for posting everyday. Oh well, I'll just do what I can. Just to catch up and remind myself of things I want to describe more fully later, here's a big catch up... Projects - I've been real busy with a project that I've been looking forward to for a long time. I got caught up in a lot of project... Read More...

Help with Cancer Research

I happened to be looking for a little information on threading and how the thread pool works when I stumbled across a project at www.grid.org that I found pretty interesting. It works in a manner similar to http://www.seti.org , but instead of looking for life, it's trying to save lives. You download... Read More...

Coding Habits = Life Habits

I've often noticed that when my coding habits or productivity is good, my life habits are good also. Or is it the reverse? So I thought it might be a good idea for me to bang out a quick list, to refer to when things aren't going so smoothly. Eating Habits I find it hard to concentrate when I'm hungry... Read More...

Transitioning to... VB6?!

As so many others have posted, there is a petition going around to “save” VB6. The real irony for me is that within what must has been hours of first hearing this, I was on a conference call where I learned of a project to update an application from 16-bit VB (2, I think) to VB 6. Now having followed Scott and Rory's blogs for a while and being a DNR fan, I had an idea that there was a bit more going on than just the obvious on camera humor. In the first installment, check out the grafitti on the walls (WS-POTTY). In the second... Read More...

New Laptop!

My new laptop arrived on Monday. It's a Dell Latitude D610 . I'm pretty happy with it so far, but it is a monster. I had been using one of those Dell superlights, I forget the model, and it's quite a difference. It's pretty fast, but by the time I've installed half of MSDN Universal, it's slowing down... A Post A Day

I decided a couple of days ago (after Dave Burke's dotText session at Code Camp 3 ) that I'm going to really try to post something every day to get a running start on this blogging thing. So, to start... Read More...

Fusion Confusion

I read Craig Andera's post on strong names a few days ago and it's really stuck with me. I'm running into some assembly loading “issues” myself on a couple of different fronts. Richard Grimes has a great online workshop that I first discovered on Scott Hanselman's blog that I'm revisiting... Read More...

Morning Commute - 1 hour and 45 minutes. Evening Commute - 4 hours and 20 minutes. This note from Meghan in my lunch... Priceless . PS - No, you can't read it. It was mostly about... cheese. :) But here's a peek - Whose got it better than me? Read More...
