Some random blogging/RSS stuff...
I had my first case of comment spam this weekend. I never worried about it because I didn't think I was getting enough traffic to be a target. Luckily .Text notified me by email of the comments and made it relatively easy to delete them. I left one because it was such a “Solemn article. It make me lost in some thoughts.” :)
OK, if a spammer can use (presumably) the MetaWebBlog API to post spam to my site, why can't I use the same API to post from Attensa?
Speaking of Attensa, I actually intended to post how much I love using it as my new RSS reader on Friday evening. But, unfortunately, it's started consuming 99% of my CPU time over the last few days, so I'd have a hard time recommending it now. It's still in Beta, so some bugs are to be expected, but I'll reserve judgment for now.
It's a plug-in for Outlook that does a generally nice job. I especially like how it handles enclosures, aka podcasts. I have the SMT5600 smartphone and I could automatically sync podcasts to it via Windows Media Player (**I used a slightly different method with Attensa). I never figured out how to post to .Text, but they have built in settings for Blogger and some of the bigger blog hosts.
I'd love to migrate off of .Text, but I just haven't found the time.... (sigh)
