A better developer in 6 months
Jim tagged me.
So after many months of a quiet blog, I'm back to share my take on the whole thing that's been running around the world.
Here's my list, and I think its even in order:
- Blog 3 times a week. Every day is just not realistic for me. Every other day or so I can do. I think.
- Finish and expand the CS Web SDK. It's a little project for work that really feels like it's starting to take shape. That means VS templates, code snippets, CodeSmith templates, base classes and libraries, and controls.
- Upgrade this website. Yes, llc.com is DotNetNuke 2.11 and this blog is .Text 0.95. Both are so old that it is really quite embarrassing. So, in 6 months I will have upgraded to some combination of DNN v. latest and/or Community Server and/or dasBlog.
- Learn the Castle stack. I know Scott already gave this one, but I can do it too. I'm a skeptic as far as this particular framework is concerned, but there's certainly a lot to learn from it.
- Get comfortable with Orcas. In 6 months it'll probably be live, but I was a little late to the party with 2.0 because we weren't really using it at work. But with multi-targeting in Orcas, it shouldn't be as much of an issue this time around. Downloading it now.
- Any finally, stop writing “Classic” ASP. That basically means I'll have to rewrite bunches of pages that we still support but haven't dedicated the time to migrate, but reworking these will certainly make me a better (and happier!) developer.
