Back from DevConnections
I spent last week in Las Vegas at the DevConnections conference. It was my first BIG conference, although I've been to many are Code Camps and MSDN Events sessions. This was a whole 'nother ball game.

(A few more pix)
There must have been 5,000+ people there - it was pretty intense.
At one point after a session, I found myself standing around with Jim talking to Phil Haack, Rick Strahl, and Rob Conery. I think I made some kind of stupid joke about passing unit test as 1=1 or something - I was hurting for some caffeine at that point and not really with it. Oh well. :) At least I didn't get called out for geek worship like the young lady in Phil's post.
I also had a chance to have a great conversation with Jay Flowers of CI Factory fame. I walked away from that with a bunch of great ideas about nut just my build process and CI, but about how I'm structuring projects and more. Maybe the best conversation of the week.
Jim Bonnie made his "big league" debut with Rob Conery at an OpenForce session about using SubSonic in DotNetNuke. Nice Job, Jim!

Session-wise it was a mixed bag in terms of usefulness. I think all of the sessions I attended were well done, but I got caught in a few that weren't really for me; overall I'd say it was about a 7 out of 10 content-wise. I'll make some separate posts about the sessions later on, but I feel pretty lucky that I split my time between ASP.Net and SharePoint. I'm still not totally convinced about SharePoint as a complete development framework, but used carefully, I could save a lot of time developing "commodity" applications. Used carelessly, it'll come back to bite me in the *** like SharePoint Team Services did a few years back. With great power comes great responsibility.
Anyway, this was a great experience all around and I can wait for the next one! (Mix '08 in the Spring, anyone?)
